Dark Souls II is an entry in the Dark Souls series, known for its difficulty, as both bosses and standard enemies have the potential to defeat the player in only a few hits. Bad play is punished severely by most enemies, opportunities for recovering health are limited, with each death the player's maximum health is reduced. This is called hollowing and only drops to a set lower limit until the player expends a rare item to reverse it.The game uses a form of joint currency called "souls", which are used as both experience points for leveling up and also as currency for purchasing items from shops. Upon death, the player's entire collection of souls are dropped; the player can recover their dropped souls by returning to the spot where they died, but if they die before picking them up, the souls are permanently lost.

The game allows its difficulty to be adjusted by mechanics built into the game. The game designers placed certain items early in the game allowing newer players higher basic damage and defense than they would normally have at that point. For more experienced players, the designers placed higher skill cap items early that do more damage if executed correctly. Other penalties, such as the health reduction on death, can be significantly reduced with certain items. This allows the player to set the game's difficulty based on their experiences with the game, rather than through a menu option. Dark Souls II features a new game plus mode. With each replay, the player retains their levels, souls, and most items.[4]
In the Scholar of the First Sin version of the game, the base story changes slightly, notably with the addition of Aldia after the defeat of Nashandra. If the player has defeated King Vendrick, Aldia attempts to help the protagonist understand that there might be a way out of the endless cycle of death and rebirth. The player is given a choice: they can either take the throne, thus allowing the cycle of Age of Fire and Dark to continue; or the player can abscond the throne, resisting the effects of Hollowing and following their own unknown path beyond light or dark.

These are glitches that stand as of patch 1.1 and hopefully they can be fixed. Besides this, Dark Souls is visually complete between all four consoles and PC, and none of these machines miss out. Inevitably, the question of performance follows. Given that the visual ambition of the remaster is so straightforward, presenting a last-gen game with new effects at a higher resolution, you'd hope frame-rates hold at 60fps regardless of what you're running on. And certainly, testing Blighttown on PS4 and Pro pre-patch was encouraging - showing the most demanding area hitting a locked 60fps all the way down on all systems.
So, with Blighttown fixed, the stress points are very different. While a majority of regular play is locked to 60fps, major bosses do still pose a challenge. For example, the Great Wolf Sif boss hammers these consoles hard - a segment that drops to just 27fps on Xbox One, 30fps on PS4 and 44fps on Pro. Only Xbox One X, with its surfeit of memory bandwidth, manages to make the grade, retaining its perfect 60fps lock. This is by far the most impactful stress test we could find in the game and while other bosses also cause issues to a lesser extent, the pattern in performance remains the same, and it's only Microsoft's enhanced console that offers a full-on 60fps lock without exception. Looking to the PC version, both AMD's Radeon RX 580 and Nvidia's GTX 1060 - GPUs with broadly equivalent horsepower to Xbox One X - once again deliver a locked 60fps at the same 1800p, but struggle with alpha-intensive effects at full 4K. You'll need GTX 1070 or RX Vega 56 hardware to lock at max settings at ultra HD resolution.
In the final analysis, Dark Souls Remastered does a good job of polishing up a truly classic game and the presentation holds up well on modern day 1080p and 4K displays - a testament to the quality of From Software's core assets. Technically it is clearly something of a barebones remaster though, but despite this, it is still a success in many ways. Let's put it this way: attempts by a third party external studio to improve the art and effects could have compromised From's original vision - and thankfully, that has definitely not happened. This is Dark Souls as it should be, liberated from the technical limitations inherent to the last-gen console and original PC versions.
Like every game has some kind of money or gold to purchase upgrades and lives, this game has souls as money in this game. Try to get as many souls as you can so they will be advantageous for you in the future. One of the vicious things about this game is that if you are not playing the game well, there is a high chance that your enemy will castigate you for it. This game has different environment with a new range of monsters. This game should not be missed by action fanatic gamers.
